Inexpensive, removable sheave Jun 26, 2009 At the price of a cast-body pully, this set has the advantage of a removable sheave (the wheel the rope runs on). I don't expect to replace the sheave, but being able to take it off means that lubrication is easier & I can release the rope without un-threading it all; just pull the cotter pin and force out the axle.
Not exactly heavy-duty (I wouldn't hang a big engine on these) but priced right. I've got them hanging our kayaks over the car, for quick load and get-away. compared to a pre-assembled kit (Racor PHL-1R Pro HeavyLift 4-by-4-Foot Cable-Lifted Storage Rack) A set of these and some good-quality rope turned out to be a much less expensive, better alternative.
