4Pain to install, but works well  Aug 25, 2010
It took about 4 hours to install with an edger/trencher, but it works well. The dog caught on really quickly, and the shock is mild enough that there isn't even a yelp.

4PetSafe Fence  Aug 15, 2010
I bought the Petsafe fence so that our two pups can play in the yard, off leash, without my worrying that they might run to the street. As recommended in other reviews, I bought heavier guage wire to avoid breakages. Burrying the fence was a pain, but everything works as advertised. Even though my husband and I had never installed something like this before, we had no real problems. I took some extra time training the pups because they are still young, but, with a "correction" or two each, they have adjusted well. I would buy the product again and recommend it to others.PetSafe PRF-304W Deluxe In-Ground Fence

5Just what we needed  Aug 06, 2010
This is a whole lot more affordable than a conventional fence. I found it easy to set up also. This web site does not let you down. I got much better service from here than from PetSafe. Within a day of asking for an exchange Amazon had already mailed the replacement and everything is working once again. PetSafe wanted the item returned and would review the return within 48 hours of receiving it....how am I keeping the dog in the yard while I wait for the review?! Not so funny how a company that sells pet products and is called PetSafe cares much less than Amazon about replacing a defective product like the in-ground fence. That's why I buy from this sight. In less than 60 days it has stopped working. The open loop signal started going off even when I cut a short piece of wire to test the transmitter to make sure the buried wire was not broken. The fuse did not burn out so I assume the electronics were defective. This is disappointing and hopefully the replacement from them will not be a problem.

5Next Best Thing To A Real Fence  Jul 03, 2010
We recently acquired a Jack Russell who loves to chase anything moving down the street...walkers, bikers, cars, etc. Our other two dogs are the instigators--although they typically stay in the yard, their alarm barks set our Jack in motion. Not anymore. It didn't take long (1-2 weeks) for him to recognize the beep sound, and that in itself keeps him from going further. It's been about a month now, and we don't think he's ever been zapped. Don't be afraid to try level 2 on yourself--it's mildly ticklish and not likely to deter any dog in my mind. We've set ours on level 3, but have yet to see the dog go beyond the "beep" zone. It was easy to install, and going across a driveway wasn't difficult either. Only the Jack Russell uses a Petsafe collar, and he loves seeing us get it out--jumps for joy knowing he's going outside and can now safely stay outdoors for lengthier periods of time. Since a large part of our yard is woods, the wire there was just laid on top of the ground and covered with leaf debris. We feel so much better knowing our dog can freely explore acres of private property, yet can't terrorize the neighborhood.

5Fantastic!  Jun 14, 2010
I got this based on the reviews. Love it! I have a 1/2 acre and needed to get an additional spool of wire. The wire is thin but if you take your time installing it you shouldn't have any problems with breaks. Bought the product to keep the dog away from the shared fences and out of the planting area.
You have to lay out this fence in a complete circle. I put the receiver box in my garage near my garage window. I didn't need the system for my front yard, but I needed to complete the circle, so I ran one wire under the rafters (cable-stapled to the underside--being careful not to stable the wire) until I got back to my backyard. I then ran it down the side of the house to the ground level. I ran the wire around the perimeter of my backyard by using the lawn edger and pushing the wire into the hole (easy to do). When I got to the garage again I found an expansion gap in my concrete and put the wire into it with some silicone on top of it to hold it in place. Ran it up my garage wall and threw the window and back into the receiver.
It fired up just fine. Just follow the instructions. There's also a youtube about this unit that was helpful too.
The dog understood very quickly and we are all happier because of this great device!
I highly recommend it. It works, it's easy to install, and once your pet knows the boundaries your life just got easier!
