Good Collar, low battery life Jun 26, 2010 Good collar but the battery life is not very good. Works well if your dog learns quickly, but do not get if your dog is stubborn!
Great system, but beware of little red collar!! Jun 20, 2010 As usual, Amazon has saved $35/collar and coming from a household that just replaced 4 collars that have broken or been lost over time, that savings was greatly appreciated. We have 4 border collies on this system and it works great for the "sensitive dog" but I do recommend if you have anything past that to try the "stubborn dog" collar. We have one that gets rotated throughout the pack if needed for a dog that might be getting a little too confident about the ability to bust through on occasion! My only warnings on these collars are 1) occasionally tighten up the prongs because they do loosen easily and then disappear 2) change out the little red collar that comes with it to a real collar with holes drilled into it otherwise you will be replacing them like us! The collar is too easily popped off when the dog does... who knows what, but we have 3 acres fenced off and once they come off, they are never to be found again. Except for that one time you could see it frozen under 8+ inches of ice all winter... but you get my point! Amazon great, little red collars, not so much.
this newer battery system make sence Apr 02, 2010 I had a older version of this which uses two CR butteries. however, buttery cover was not quite water tight. so ended up with some short circuit issue and needed new one.
Even we have to use their special butteries, these butteries equipped with new rubber searing. No more short circuit issue.
buttery last same as old system. for our dog, it is about 3 months (it depends on how often the dog come close to the boundary).
Works great for small dogs! Mar 17, 2010 I have two of these collars on my chihuahua mix and dachshund mix. They have been working great for over a year now on their original batteries! I test them once a month with the included tester by getting them near the fence just to make sure that they are still working.
Overall we are very impressed with the quality and durability. My dogs wear the collars 24/7 and they have shown minimal signs of wear.
Great for little dogs, yes battery does drain fast Jan 20, 2010 I have two dogs. My younger is a 1 year old labradoodle who is currently weighing in at 80 plus pounds. We got the stubborn dog collar for her and within a day she was running around the yard and so happy that I always wanted my little dog to have the same pleasure, but my fiance was scared that our dog was too little, being a yorkiepoo only weighing 5lbs at 3 years old. Well I finally convinced her on this collar and it was well worth it! Of course our dog got shocked, she has been running free every time she escapes form the yard for three years now! You know how hard it is to find a 5lb black dog in the dark? it's hard, believe me. well, anyways, she got shocked for the first time and didnt even yelp as it just made her back away, but then she got caught on the line and got the full blast and yelped and of course I felt bad;( but I knew in the end she would be running free and happy. So within a couple days she was only been shocked once and now we let her out free to roam with her big sister whenever she wants. She already knows that when it beeps she needs to stop and turn back. My one complaint is the battery, it is already low. Iyou buy them on amazon they are 2 for six bucks, get enough for the free shipping and you may have two years worth.
So its a good collar with short life batteries but they are cheap and I would buy it. It will be ok for your smaller dogs but for bigger dogs you will want a collar that gives our more "correction"
